An Age Old Science "Ayurveda"

Ayurveda is a holistic approach to health that is designed to help people live long, healthy, and well-balanced lives. The term Ayurveda is taken from the ancient Indian language, Sanskrit words Ayus, meaning life or lifespan, and Veda meaning knowledge literally means "Knowledge of Life". It has been practiced in India for at least 5,000 years. Ayurveda effectively tackles the cause of illness rather than merely alleviating the symptoms. This is done by maintaining the natural balance of the constituents (the state of prakriti) of the body, mind and soul through the daily regimen and (Dinacharya) seasonal regimen (Ritucharya for a healthy person and through medication mainly based on herbs, dietary regimen and yogic exercises to restore the prakriti back in the diseased.

Ayurveda can be defined as a system, which uses the inherent principles of nature, to help maintain health in a person by keeping the individual's body, mind and spirit in perfect equilibrium with nature.

From these definitions it is clear that Ayurveda is a complete knowledge about life, how to live life in a healthy way and to achieve harmony with the nature.
